Tungsten Carbide |
Tungsten Carbide is a product commonplace in the mining and machining industry where it is used for operations that require a high hardness and temperature resistance, such as rock drills and cutting tools. Other uses are in surgical instruments and jewellery. With hardness akin to that of corundum (alpha Al2O3), there are not a lot of materials that are more abrasive than it. Still the use in friction materials is comparatively minor due to the price level, i.e. it is mostly used in applications where receiving extra bite through the use of Tungsten Carbide is absolutely essential. |
