Graphite, natural & synthetic

We offer both Natural as well as Synthetic Graphites.

Natural Graphites are available in flake and needle form. The minimum carbon content can be fixed anywhere between 75% and 99.5%.

Thermal conductivity: 8-17 W/mK (at 20°C)
Density:  2.1-2.3 g/cm³

Many different particle size distributions are available.

Synthetic Graphites are made from new pure electrodes with an extremely low SiO2 level and a sulfur content of less than 0.05%.
The carbon content can be fixed either at min. 98% or min. 99%.

Thermal conductivity: 40-130 W/mK (at 20°C)
Density:  2.1-2.3 g/cm³

Many different particle size distributions are available, but the most common grades of Synthetic Graphite are:

  • Grade A:  100%  < 0.5 mm
  • Grade B:  100%  < 2.0 mm

Both Natural as well as Synthetic Graphites are mainly used for their lubricity, e.g. in: friction materials, solid lubricants, carbon brushes, pencils, crucibles, chemical insulation, electrodes.
