Copper Oxide, black

Copper (II)-oxide, also called “Copper Oxide, black” is partly an amorphous and also crystalline powder, insoluble in water and has a purity of >99.0%. It is often used as an anti-fouling agent in coatings and can also be used as a heat collector in solar cells.

The use in friction materials is for lubrication at high temperatures (melting point 1,326°C), as it easily undergoes a reaction to other copper products. The density is approx. 6.3 g/cm3 .
